Set in a retro-future world, this interactive VR dance experience is driven by Reggie Watts’ and John Tejada’s soaring track, Runnin’. Players are given a super power that brings the dance floor to life through your movement. Putting the player at center stage of this surreal virtual world, a cast of volumetric dancers welcome players to the dance like nobody’s watching.
Runnin' made its world premier at Sundance in 2019 and went on to win Best Interactive at SXSW 2019. It was filmed at Intel Studios, which was the largest volumetric capture dome in the world at the time with a 10,000 square foot stage.
What was most exciting about working in a studio of that size was the ability to capture multiple dancers at the same time. With the help of Unity and Intel’s volumetric capture dome, we were able to record the simultaneous movements of over 13 performers before translating all of the captured data into assets for Runnin’.
